About the role

Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join the Estates, Facilities and Support Services Directorate as a security officer within the Security Department at Southport Hospital.

Applicants will be required to provide a flexible, high quality service extending care and consideration to patients, staff and visitors as well as responding and managing challenging situations that will require prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and helpful manner

Main duties of the job

The primary role will be to maintain a visible and effective high profile presence to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff, as well as the protection of property across the hospital site, complete patrols of the site, complete lock up procedures, create reports as necessary.

The successful applicant will need to ensure all relevant incidents that involve aggression or violence; loss of equipment, damage to property etc. are reported immediately on the respective incident software.

The post holder must hold a full current clean driving licence and have previous knowledge of conflict resolution within a healthcare environment would be desirable. A full induction will be carried out on site of duties and expectations.

Shifts are a 4 on 4 off basis.

12 hour shifts – Day Shift

There will be a shift enhancement rate on some shifts, site and timing dependant.



Candidate must have

Essential

  • SIA Licence
  • Previous Security experience
  • Willingness to undergo ‘on the job’ training and attend specialist courses, as necessary. This will include Control & Restraint/physical intervention training

Desirable

  • CCTV Licence
  • Experience of working with the public in a customer facing role
  • Experience in Physical intervention / control and restraint
  • Security experience within the healthcare environment

Knowledge and Skills

  • The ability to communicate easily and confidently with all levels of personnel, colleagues, patients, and visitors
  • Knowledge and understanding of patient confidentiality and the ability to deal with sensitive issues
  • Understand and operate the appropriate procedures for Security Services
  • To understand and apply techniques of conflict management
  • Understanding of basic Law & Legislation in relation to Security
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors, and staff
  • Training on Data Protection

  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise your own workload
  • Polite, friendly, and welcoming manner when dealing with patients, visitors and colleagues
  • The ability to always maintain a professional approach especially in difficult situations
  • Able to work under pressure

Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check

It would be desirable for the post holder to have an enhanced disclosure and barring check that has already been completed and includes checks for Adults and Child barred lists. However, this can be run by the company for the right applicant.
